    Culture & Heritage Museums is a family of museums in York County, SC, which includes Historic Brattonsville, McCelvey Center, Museum of York County, and Main Street Children’s Museum in Old Town Rock Hill.     About our opportunity

    Culture and Heritage Museum is excited to hire a part-time Museum Visitor Services Assistant to join their team at Museum of York County. The purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer service support for the museum and store, ensuring effective and efficient office operations and compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and standards of safety and quality.
    Successful candidate must be able to complete a background check and a drug screen.

    Projected Hiring Range/Pay Grade 106: $15.82 - $18.98 per hour. Salary is based on qualifications.

    Work Schedule: This position is for 12 hours/week (24 hours per biweekly pay period) and the schedule varies based on coverage needs.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Greets and assists visitors. Provides information and assistance to telephone callers and/or forwards calls to appropriate personnel, takes messages, or relays information.
    • Performs general administrative/clerical work as required, including but not limited to entering and retrieving computer data, processing daily mail, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes, assembling materials, and maintaining lists and logs, etc.
    • Operates the museum store and assists with stocking and ordering inventory. Completes a daily report of all sales activity.
    • Performs related work as assigned.


    About you

    Education and Experience:
    • High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
    • One (1) year of customer service, clerical or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


    Certifications and Licenses:

    • First Aid and CPR certifications preferred.


    Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.

    Physical Demands:
     Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

    Annual Leave
    Probationary and part-time county employees that work at least 20 hours per week accrue annual leave with pay. Employees in their new hire six (6) month probationary period shall not be able to use annual leave until they become regular county employees. Employees who are separating from county service shall be paid for all accrued, unused annual leave up to 360 hours provided they give York County as the employer the proper notice as required. Employees in their six (6) month New-Hire probationary period who are terminated or separated from employment shall not be paid for accrued annual leave. The maximum amount of annual leave carried into each calendar year is 360 hours.

    Earning Rate for Part-Time Employees
    Part-time employees who are scheduled to work twenty (20) to twenty-nine (29) hours per week will earn 4.0 hours of annual leave for each month of service during a twelve month period

    Sick Leave
    Part-time and probationary county employees may be entitled to earn sick leave with pay. Temporary employees will not accrue sick leave time. Employees may accrue up to 1,440 hours of sick leave. Upon termination of employment with the County, employees may not be reimbursed for any unused sick leave. When a paid holiday occurs while an employee is on sick leave with pay, the day may not be charged as sick leave.

    Earning Rate of Sick Leave
    Part-time employees that work twenty (20) to twenty-nine (29) hours per week earn paid sick leave at a rate of 4 hours per month. Part-time employees who work less than twenty (20) hours per week will not earn sick leave.

    Paid Holiday’s for regular part-time employees who work more than 20 hours per week.
    • Part-time employees who work less than 20 hours per week will not earn sick leave. The following days may be observed as paid holidays for York County Employees:

    January - December:3 Optional Holidays per Calendar Year
    January:New Year’s Day andMartin Luther King Day
    May:Memorial Day
    June:Juneteenth Day
    July:Independence Day
    September:Labor Day
    November:Veteran’s Day,Thanksgiving Day, andFriday after Thanksgiving
    December:Christmas Eve,Christmas Day

    Training:
    Quality training and educational programs are available at various times for county employees in order to support workforce development that is consistent with organizational objectives. Training topics may include driver training, CPR/first aid, communication, supervisor training, workplace violence, substance abuse, and various computer related classes.
