    Job Description

    Introduction

    The Development Services Supervisor plans, organizes and supervises the employees City's Planning & Development Services Department. In addition to the supervisory responsibilities, this position provides service to the public, developers, contractors, engineers, and other customers through multiple channels of communication.

    Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $42.39 per hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
    • Three years of customer service experience involving extensive, in-person public contact.
    • Must have at least six months of Lead or Supervisory experience.
    • Preferred: Experience in a municipal or government setting.

    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    • Must obtain within six months, and maintain throughout tenure, International Code Council (ICC) Permit Technician certification.

    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/services assignment.

    Essential Functions

    Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:

    All Assignments:
    • Supports other staff members and provides expertise and guidance to teams and projects within the group.
    • Keeps accurate records pertaining to the status of commercial site plans, building plans and subdivision review plans.
    • Researches history of properties for past uses, zoning history, easements and recorded documents.
    • Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: training, approving work schedules, recommending/approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.

    Records Assignment:
    • Accumulates, validates, and maintains departmental records including case files, permits, FEMA, as-builts, plans, and maps.
    • Conforms with state record retention requirements by digitally formatting, maintaining, and purging records.
    • Monitors off-site records storage.
