Current vacancy is with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department located in Visalia. The anticipated life of the list is six months. Please note, our policy contains personal appearance standards which include prohibiting visible tattoos above the collar line or below the wrist. We ask that all applicants be able to meet this requirement. Typical Duties- Provide security for the public, employees and officials in and around County and Court buildings.
- Apply the Court Services Unit and building security operations principles, particularly those that apply to public contact and weapons screening.
- Apply a variety of policies and procedures of the Court Services Unit, and other applicable rules, regulations, laws, ordinances and rules of Court.
- Operate and monitor CCTV, X-Ray, Magnetometers, or other weapons screening equipment.
- Provide information to the public to assist them in conducting business at County offices.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license which are required and equivalent to the following.
Education: - Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12 th ) grade.
Experience: - Two (2) years of increasingly responsible public contact experience.
Knowledge of: - Math sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions.
Skill/Ability to: - Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers.
- Operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment.
- Read and understand moderately complex information.
- Write basic memos and record information using correct grammar and spelling.

Vacation Accrual: 2 weeks per year (0-3 years of service)
3 weeks per year (3-7 years of service)
4 weeks per year (7-11 years of service)
5 weeks per year (11+ years of service)
Limit of 300 hours.
Sick Leave Accrual: 12 days per year with unlimited accumulation, 60 hours of which may be used toward family sick leave.
Career Incentive Pay Employees who have completed five (5) or more Years of Service with Tulare County and meet the eligibility criteria described in Administrative Regulation - 52, earn additional pay according to the schedule below.
