Location: 414 E. 12th St.
Pay: $27.25-$40.88 per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

What you'll do

• Review building permit applications and development plans to ensure wet utility connections meet public infrastructure requirements and departmental standards
• Prepare, track, and close permits using the City's enterprise permitting system to support accurate, timely project approvals
• Provide technical assistance to internal staff, developers, contractors, and the public regarding KC Water Permitting & Development policies and procedures
• Coordinate with inspectors, other utilities, city departments, and external agencies to resolve technical questions and support project completion
• Manage multiple assignments at the same time, using sound judgment to plan work, prioritize deadlines, and coordinate materials and information

What you'll bring

• Strong working knowledge of construction practices and utility infrastructure used in building and capital projects
• Ability to review technical plans, permits, and development documents with attention to detail and sound judgment
• Experience coordinating with inspectors, agencies, and internal teams on technical or regulatory issues
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for responding to inquiries, preparing reports, and explaining requirements
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards

Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation and 7 years of experience in engineering drawing, mapping, automated mapping, geographical information systems (GIS) and equipment or computer aided drafting and design (CADD), engineering, land survey, or construction inspection or an acceptable combination of education and experience; OR high school graduation and 5 years of experience in engineering drawing, mapping, automated mapping, geographical information systems (GIS) and equipment or computer aided drafting and design (CADD), engineering, land survey, construction inspection and possession of a Level II Engineering Technology Certification in any Civil, Electrical or Mechanical discipline as issued by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or "Land Surveyor in Training" as issued by the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architect; OR high school graduation and possession of the Level III Certification as "Engineering Technician (ET)" as issued by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or a Registered Land Surveyor's License as issued by the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
