    Water Department - Security Operations Division
    Location: 4800 E. 63rd St.
    Pay: $24.77-$37.16 per hour

    Schedule: Thursday-Monday, 11:0 0pm - 7:30 am or 12:00 am - 8:30 am * Must be available for additional hours, holidays, and weekends as needed

    Responsibilities

    What you'll do
    • Plan, assign, and supervise the work of security specialists and contracted security guards to maintain continuous, effective coverage across water facilities
    • Develop, implement, and enforce security procedures and measures that protect vital assets, employees, and visitors
    • Investigate security incidents, violations, accidents, and disturbances by reviewing video footage, conducting interviews, and preparing reports
    • Conduct regular site visits to observe security operations, evaluate staff performance, and ensure procedures are followed consistently
    • Manage access control systems, including Lenel and other security technologies, to safeguard restricted areas
    • Lead security audits, review submitted reports, and assist with implementing corrective actions and recommendations

    Water facilities are critical infrastructure. The Supervisor of Security plays a key role in protecting operations that support public health and safety. Your leadership helps prevent disruptions, respond to emergencies, and maintain trust with employees, law enforcement, and the community.


    Qualifications

    REQUIRES high school graduation and five (5) years experience in law enforcement or security; OR Accredited Bachelor's degree and on year experience in law enforcement or security. Must pass a background check, psychological evaluation, non-regulated drug screen (including THC) and physical examination as prescribed by the City. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a special police commission as issued by the Kansas City Police Department.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
