Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Mental Health Oriented Science or in a field related to the job, plus three (3) years experience in mental health crisis and trauma counseling.

The Victim Services Lead Counselor provides oversight and guidance to Victim Services Counselors. Coordinates and monitors daily job assignments of Victim Services Counselors including staffing to ensure adequate shift coverage. Observes, trains, and provides feedback on Victim Services Counselor performance. Responds to and coordinates efforts on large crime scenes or critical incidents. Coordinates response with other public safety agencies as needed. Performs the duties of the Victim Services Counselor. Performs administrative duties assigned by Victim Services Supervisor and/or Manager. May provide guidance, leadership, and training for others. Fills in for supervisor in his or her absence.

Driving Requirement:

This position requires a Valid Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

The position is a 10-hour shift with 3 consecutive days off; must work weekends on alternating months; this will include some holidays.
