Job Summary Reporting to the Director, Business and Administrative Services, the Storekeeper is assigned to the Central Stores Unit within Business and Administrative Services and works independently or as a team member under the general supervision of the Central Stores and Inventory Coordinator. The incumbent is responsible for receipt, storage and issuance of a volume of varied supplies requiring moderately complex storage practices in the branch warehouse and supply rooms operated by Facilities Development and Operations.
Key Responsibilities - Lead a small staff in the receiving, checking, storing, and shipping of janitorial, office, hardware, equipment, construction materials, dry goods, foodstuffs, and other supplies
- Check incoming delivered items/supplies to determine damage and the correctness of quantity and quality for compliance with specifications
- Order various types of supplies, materials, and equipment
- Keep inventory records and maintain sufficient supplies on hand to fill anticipated needs
- Make daily entries of goods received and report the issuance of outgoing items
- Maintain records and retrieve data related to work performed using manual and computerized record-keeping systems, and to prepare standard reports
- Uses computer for communicating, researching parts and specifications, coordinating, documenting work details, recording time log, and other applicable duties
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - General knowledge of storekeeping methods and practices including packing and shipping a wide variety of commodities
- Ability to communicate with constituents in a professional and respectful manner
- Ability to keep receiving, shipping and inventory records
- Ability to rapidly learn and apply CSU procurement practices, procedures and materials specifications
- Ability to plan and lead the work of others
- Ability to forecast supply needs of routine items
- Ability to make mathematical calculations
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with suppliers, vendors, and individuals across the campus
- Ability to operate all applicable tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
- Ability to maintain records and retrieve data related to work performed using manual and computerized record-keeping systems, and to prepare standard reports
- Ability to analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations
- A valid California Driver’s License with a good driving record is required and must be maintained for the operation of any vehicle required for this position
Required Qualifications - Two years of experience in a storeroom or warehouse in the performance of work involving the receipt, storage, and issuance of a variety of supplies, material, and equipment
- Prospective applicants who have not had the experience listed may be considered eligible based on other evidence of meeting the above minimum qualifications
License A valid driver's license is required for this position. Out of state candidates selected for the position must obtain a State of California driver's license within 10 days of hire in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles regulations.
Once hired the employee must successfully complete the Defensive Driver Training Program provided by the State of California for California State University campuses.
Preferred Qualifications - Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Possession of an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree or equivalent
- Four years of experience in a storeroom or warehouse environment in the performance of work similar to the position offered

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,719/month - $5,467/month
CSU Salary Range: $3,680/month - $5,856/month
