    Job Summary:

    The Broadband Construction Inspector ensures the quality, safety, and compliance of broadband infrastructure projects. This role conducts field inspections, enforces construction standards, and collaborates with contractors and internal teams to maintain high-quality installations. Responsibilities include reviewing technical plans, documenting project status, and ensuring adherence to Pulse’s broadband standards and regulations.

    The salary range for this position is $25.05- $33.82 per hour with a hiring range of $25.05 - $29.43, depending on qualifications and experience.

    This opportunity will be available to applicants until Thursday, 4.24.25 at 9:00 A.M. M.S.T.

    Essential Functions:
    • Conducts field inspections for broadband and communications infrastructure, including new developments, curb-to-premise installations, service connections, maintenance projects, and modifications, additions, or alterations to utility systems.
    • Ensures broadband and communications infrastructure aligns with Pulse’s construction standards and relevant regulations.
    • Identifies non-compliant work and defects, issuing corrective actions and coordinating resolutions with contractors, vendors, or internal crews.
    • Witnesses field testing procedures such as concrete and vault compaction testing to verify compliance.
    • Reviews test results, including OTDR and power meter tests, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with fiber-optic standards.
    • Maintains detailed daily logs and inspection reports, documenting construction activities, deviations from plans, material use, test results, and any non-compliance issues.
    • Tracks the status of assigned projects, pending concerns, and resolutions, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
    • Assists in processing as-built documentation, ensuring accuracy in GIS or work management systems.
    • Reads, interprets, and enforces construction drawings, specifications, and utility regulations.
    • Provides technical guidance to contractors, developers, and internal teams on construction standards, installation procedures, and compliance requirements.
    • Communicates effectively with developers, consultants, contractors, employees, and the public, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts professionally.
    • Conducts field meetings and site walkthroughs to discuss inspection findings, compliance requirements, and corrective actions.
    • Ensures proper use of materials and workmanship, preventing premature failures or non-compliant installations.
    • Performs quality control inspections on underground and aerial installations, ensuring proper clearances, grounding, and protection of facilities.
    • Works closely with network design, engineering, project managers, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Recommends process improvements, updates to utility standards, or refinements in contractor oversight to enhance efficiency and compliance.
    • Supports training efforts for internal staff or contractors regarding updated utility standards and inspection protocols.

    Qualifications:

    Education:
    • High School Graduate or GED required.

    Experience:
    • 1 year construction inspection experience or related duties required.

    An equivalent combination of education and or experience may substitute for education requirements on a year for year basis.

    Certifications:
    • Valid Driver's License required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong understanding of broadband construction standards, including Pulse’s broadband specifications.
    • Ability to identify non-compliant work, interpret utility codes, and enforce construction standards while working collaboratively with contractors.
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering plans, schematics, maps, and construction drawings to verify field compliance.
    • Knowledge of vault compaction, concrete testing, OTDR fiber testing, power meter readings, and other testing, or standards validations.
    • Strong skills in record-keeping, daily log creation, and inspection reporting, ensuring accuracy and clarity in documentation.
    • Ability to interact professionally with contractors, developers, and internal teams, addressing concerns and resolving compliance issues diplomatically.
    • Ability to assess field conditions, identify issues, and recommend solutions to maintain project quality and compliance.
    • Experience with GIS mapping and digital reporting tools for tracking inspections and project status.
    • Strong ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work independently in the field while maintaining thorough oversight.

    Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
    • Frequent m inimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.
    • Frequent l ight to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
    • Frequent exposure to routine office noise and equipment.
    • Frequent ex posure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
    • Occasional m oderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools.
    • Occasional ex posure to hazards typically found in general office environments where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.
    • Occasional e xposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.
