    Wage Agency Instructor - MGT314 Enhanced All-Hazards Incident Management/Unified Command

    10 Positions to be filled

    Part-Time (Temporary/Casual) Position

    Telecommuter

    $45.00/hour

    This Instructor is responsible for providing training for the MGT-314 Enhanced All-Hazards Incident Management/Unified Command Course in College Station, Texas. As part of the Homeland Security National Training Program cooperative agreement, the Agency Wage Instructor is responsible for delivering and conducting training courses as needed, on a part-time basis. The Agency Wage Instructor will participate in the development, planning and delivery of Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) courses, in support of the Enhanced Incident Management Programs. This position may require additional travel for course development. The Agency Wage Instructor will utilize his/her knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. This position will also be responsible for classroom and topic preparation, delivery of classes including demonstration with teaching aids and completing the required administrative paperwork. The Agency Wage Instructor will maintain technical competencies and skills, in addition to providing classroom and field instruction.

    This position reports to the Program Director.

    Required Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Must have a minimum of 7 years’ experience, in one or a combination of the following fields: CBRNE, Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI), prevention and deterrence OR anti-terrorism, and/or counterterrorism, and related experience OR adult education and or training experience (three-year minimum) OR knowledge and experience in one or more of the US DHS-designated disciplines.


    In exceptional cases, specialized experience may be accepted to meet this minimum experience requirement. In these instances, the NDPC member will document the rationale for the exception in the instructor file.

    Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
    • Completion of ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800.


    Must have one of the following:
    • Programs meeting NFPA 1041- Standards for Fire Service Instructor Professional.
    • Qualifications, 2002 Edition, and Fire Instructor Level I or II including those accredited by IFSAC or the Pro Board.
    • Specialized Training Certification Program or Academy Instructor Certification.
    • Program as offered by the Military, or a State’s Commission on Peace Officer Training. (POST)
    • Standards and Training or possess certification from an approved formal instructional training program. (i.e. ASTD, CTTI, FLETC, College, Private industry)
    • A valid teaching certificate.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience serving on an Incident Management Team.
    • G0-191 EOC/ICS Interface.


    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to move objects/training equipment up to 50lbs.
    • Must be able to regularly use a computer/keyboard.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • General knowledge of emergency response to include All-Hazards incidents.
    • Ability to communicate in a classroom setting or hands-on training activities.
    • Must be well organized, able to handle multiple projects concurrently, and be detailed oriented.
    • Must be able to work well with customers, co-workers, and staff of all levels.
    • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
    • Knowledge of basic office software and instructional programs.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.


    Equipment:
    • Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.


    Notifications:

    • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.

    • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.
    • This is a wage position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TEEX does not guarantee any set number of hours or length of employment in this role.
    • Work location will be based out of personal residence to better serve TEEX’s Emergency Services/Instructional requirements.
    • This position is eligible for telecommuting.


    Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

    Instruct Assigned Courses - 80%
    • Determine course goals and objectives.
    • Use a variety of techniques for presenting course material.
    • Develop instructional techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles.
    • Initiate and maintain interactive classroom discussions.
    • Provide positive reinforcement and motivational incentives.
    • Monitor learner performance.
    • Evaluate and assess instructional effectiveness.


    Additional support and instruction - 5%:
    • Conducts Enhanced All-Hazards Incident Management/Unified Command hand-off, field delivery courses, and other courses as assigned.


    Course Development and Review - 5%
    • Modifies or develops course content to meet changing needs and objectives, includes visuals and handout materials.
    • All changes will be in cooperation with the curriculum, certification and evaluation group.


    Other - 10%
    • Maintains a clean and neat appearance.
    • Submits travel documentation on time.
    • Completes mandatory training and associated documentation on time.
    • Attends virtual meetings unless dismissed by supervisor
    • Interact professionally with External/Internal customers.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
