    Job Description

    Performs specialized work in the area of recreation and leisure services. Responsible for performing activities of average difficulty at an assigned recreation area. Under general supervision, the employee performs tasks that include leading, supervising, and officiating at a variety of sports, games, and programs. Assists in administrative procedures involved in the design and conduct of recreation programs. May be responsible for a City of Orlando-wide program and may work out of several centers of different levels. Exercises some initiative and independent judgment in planning and conducting playground or center activities for all ages. Work is reviewed through periodic observation by a Regional Center Supervisor while in progress and through reports submitted. Some work is performed outdoors, and the employee is exposed to weather conditions, including heat. Work at night and on weekends required. This position differs from a Recreation Specialist in that the position is assigned to a regional center and the employee in this class serves as assistant supervisor.

    This position will oversee the daily operations of Black Bee Honey, including implementing schedules for cleaning, classroom instruction, inventory, and market participation. Responsibilities include supervising youth curriculum delivery, supporting sales and retail activities at events and markets, and managing product deliveries and funds. The role coordinates digital content for marketing, tracks student attendance and performance, and assists with evaluations and data reporting. The position also helps manage inventory, communicate supply needs, and support partnership events and logistics.

    Hours vary based on season and program needs.

    Typical schedule is outlined as follows:

    Monday-Friday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

    Cohort/Class Schedule

    Tuesday-Friday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM

    Saturday (based on Black Bee Honey market schedule): 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

    Minimum Qualifications:

    High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years experience in organized recreation and/or leisure services required ; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required at the time of application. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required, depending on the area of assignment. Polygraph and criminal background check required. Some college coursework desired.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
